Majolica Chestnut dinner plate

The chestnut, the quintessential autumn fruit, is enjoyed from October to December. Originally from Asia Minor, this nutritious nut is appreciated in both desserts and salads. Introduced to the Ardèche region (France) in the 14th century, it was once used as a form of currency, like wheat or salt, and is now part of the local heritage.
