12 silver-plated knife-rests representing La Fontaine's Fables after Benjamin Rabier's drawings, among them: the Ant and the Grasshopper, the Wolf and the Crane, the Tortoise and the Hare etc.
Each knife-rests are signed "Benjamin Rabier" on the base and stamped "P D" for Paul Delhalle (the silversmith).
Benjamin Rabier (1864 - 1939) was a French talented author and illustrator, also a comic-book author. Considerate as one of the most gifted European animal comics designers, he was famous for his character Gédéon the Duck and his illustrations of La Fontaine's Fables.
