The french earthenware Manufacture d’Orchies was created in 1879 by L’Herminé near the Belgia border where many other earthenware firms were established since the 18th century, such as the Manufacture du Moulin-des-Loups located in Saint-Amand-les-Eaux. The Manufacture d’Orchies created many decorative pieces enhanced with vivid colors. The firm was absorbed by Moulin-des-Loups Hamage in 1923 and despite a rebound in the 1950s, the company definitively closed its doors in the 1980s.
