The Lunéville factory was established in 1731 and became the royal supplier to the Austrian family in the 18th century. Initially, the firm created the Saint-Clément company in 1757 for tax purposes, but the two companies eventually became independent between 1786 and 1892, when Lunéville absorbed Saint-Clément. The company experienced financial difficulties throughout the 19th century and then the new owners, Keller and Guérin, brought a new dynamism and creativity with their art nouveau style pieces. At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, the demand for artichokes and asparagus plates and dishes was very strong and the reputation of Lunéville was well established.
