Choisy-le-Roi Manufacture was created in 1805 by the Paillard's Brothers. In 1836, Hippolyte Boulenger became the only owner of the firm and initiated the reconstruction of buildings destroyed by the 1870 war. Starting from this period, Choisy-le-Roi earthenware productions are appreciated and the firm almost had no competition in France since Sarreguemines was dominated by Germans. The manufacture was very successful until the WWI when she experienced financial trouble and ended closing in 1938.
