The rectangular plate, with its rounded corners, features two asparagus spears in relief at the center on a turquoise background. The rim is adorned with strawberry flowers or strawberries in relief, set against an olive-green background framed by two bands of wicker-like decoration in relief.
This set is a superb example of the artistry and craftsmanship of the period. In very good condition, this Lunéville majolica asparagus drainer and plate set measures 24 cm in length and 15 cm in height for the drainer, and 33 cm in length and 27 cm in width for the plate. For a very similar set marked Lunéville, see Maryse Bottero, "Artichauts et asperges en barbotine," Paris, 2006, p. 16. Various impressed marks add to the authenticity of these pieces.
