Fish service in Bernardaud Limoges porcelain for 12 people.
Wonderfully decorated with a turquoise pattern and exotic fishes executed in grisaille such after engravings of the Cuvier and Valenciennes 'Natural History of Fishes' between 1828 and 1849: Lampris tacheté, Astroderme elegant, Orphie crocodile etc.
Each piece is adorned by a silver rim and stamped on the back with the Bernardaud hallmarks and a little caption referring to the exact fish name.
Set composed of :
- 12 dinner plates (2 x 6 types of fish) diameter 25 cm
- 1 gravy boat W 21 cm x D 15 cm x H 9 cm
- 1 oval dish : W 60 cm x D 22,5 cm
Work done c. 1970 by Bernardaud, a famous french Limoges porcelain manufacturer known for its very refined decor.
