Champagne bucket Messageries Maritimes Christofle
Christofle silver-plated champagne bucket for the Compagnie des Messageries Maritime, 19th century.
The initials are engraved and represent the Company's emblem, the unicorn and the naval anchor. The handles and rim are decorated with leafy fillets.

Founded in 1851, Compagnie des Messageries Maritimes created lines to Asia, Africa and the West Indies. It operated passenger voyages, transported goods, and managed postal lines, including the transport of government employees, with its fleet of ships.
It merged with Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (CGT) in 1977.
