This french carving trolley crafted by the French world-famous silversmith Christofle.
The trolley is very practical to keep meals warm. Made of silver plated and stained wood, the trolley is oval-shaped and standing on four wheels which makes it very easy to move.
The domed-lid reveals a serving tray with two handles and two sauce bowls. The tray can be removed to allow access to the stove, the lateral foldable plate-holder is perfect to facilitate the service, and also the cooking tools-holder hanging on the apron of the table is very useful.
Engraved on a silver-plated cartouche in front “ Orfèvrerie Christofle Paris France”. Table designed circa 1940 in Art Deco style.
This table is so convenient to serve meals in style and helps you to maintain them at the perfect temperature!
A good tip is in summer you can fill it with crushed ice and serve a cool buffet.
Christofle is one of the most famous silversmiths, founded in Paris in 1830 and became very quickly the most world well known as Napoleon III ordered for Tuileries Palace in 1851 a set for 100 guests including magnificent silver-plated centerpiece to be discovered in Paris Museum of Decorative Arts (permanent exhibition), other pieces can be seen at Metropolitan Museum.
Wear of the silver plate consistent with age and use, slight marks on the wood on the stretcher.
Ready to use as the centerpiece and the two bowls has been replated.
